Enjoy pick your own apple season with these great farms and orchards close to the city.
Lucky for us living in the New York City area, the options for U-Pick farms are plentiful. You can head upstate or out to Long Island depending on the amenities you’re looking for and how far you’re willing to travel. While the act of searching for, plucking down, and of course tasting the apples provides tons of fun for all ages, many farms offer such activities as bounce houses, corn mazes, pony rides, petting zoos, and food stands.
I didn’t grow up in the northeast, so apple picking was not on my radar until recently. From the moment my family set foot in the orchards last fall, I knew it was a tradition I would carry on with my daughter for as long as possible. Every member of the family can be involved in this healthy outdoor activity that makes eating your fruits SO much more fun! Here are some places you may want to check out:
Upstate New York
This Hudson Valley farm offers a variety of family entertainment such as pony rides, a haunted house, and clown visits along with a country store. Be sure to check out their website for a schedule of events.
